I have developed a product called ColoRule (Patented). While teaching my high school drawing class, I encountered a student struggling to find the correct measurements on their ruler for their drawing. I taught the student multiple ways to use the ruler and none of these strategies seemed effective. Markers were laying out on the counter so I utilized these tools in tandem for the student to grasp a better understanding. I added color marks on the ruler to help understand measurements. This tremendously helped the student to realize the measurements and create a successful drawing. Other students in the class were asking to use the “special” ruler. I went online hoping to order a class set and to my surprise, I could not find a single product like this on the market. Henceforth, ColoRule became a reality!

I created ColoRule for my art classes to better understand the basics of measuring, although the ruler does not need to be limited to the art room. All students, K-12, and beyond will gain a better understanding of measurement from this ruler. Math, science, and special needs classes will specifically benefit as ColoRule helps to effectively correlate color to measurements and numbers, increasing accuracy. Using ColoRule will now allow teachers more time for purposeful instruction.

Showing adults and other teachers my invention created excitement for wanting to use ColoRule just as much as students. ColoRule will target a broad spectrum of individuals such as artists, architects, business people, etc. This will also benefit those who enjoy crafting or to even simply hang pictures on a wall. This product is versatile and targets people of all ages to understand how to accurately use a ruler.

After many prototypes and designs, I have finalized ColoRule to change the way we measure forever. I want ColoRule to be the next name brand product making its way into homes and classrooms across the United States!
